The Balboa Trolley Service Gets $2.6 Million From OCTA


October 22 2024: The Orange County Transportation Authority has allocated nearly $42.4 million to support community based transit programs. The funding comes from Measure M a half cent sales tax increase that was passed by Orange County residents. The money from measure M is designed to improve transportation, enhance mobility and reduce congestion countywide.

The money allocated is for special event shuttles, seasonal trolleys and on demand transport services. The money will go towards 11 existing community services and expand four services; An additional eight new services will start. To apply for funding the cities are required to cover ten percent of the costs themselves.

Locally the Balboa Peninsula Trolley Service in Newport Beach will get $2,574,720 for continuation of that popular service.
